In August, Pastor Lillian Joyce of the Church of Eternal Light in Westville, New Jersey reported that jewelry that she had lost three years before had reappeared.  The jewelry had been left in a hotel room drawer at the Virginia Beach NSAC convention and she was unable to recover the items.  In August she found a strange silver box in her jewelry drawer at home.  In the box were the missing pieces of jewelry.

The Rev. Barbara Thurman found a baggie on her worktable containing a topaz ring and a small metal turtle pin.  The ring was not one that she had ever owned but the stone reminded her of one that she had lost on a playground over 20 years ago.  Topaz is Barbara’s birthstone and the lost stone had been a gift from her parents.  The turtle pin was also not hers.  She said that she had raised turtles around the same time that she had lost the Topaz stone.  Even the baggie that the apports were in was not the type that she uses.  At a table tipping session a spirit communicator confirmed that the items were indeed apports.

The Benefits of a Positive Attitude.  People who are overly pessimistic tend to have worse health long-term than their more positive peers do.  Dr. Toshihiko Maruta of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, said that doctors should consider encouraging their patients to adopt a positive outlook toward life based on these findings and similar results from previous studies.

The current study is the second in a series, the first of which found that pessimists might have shorter life spans than their more positive peers.  This is not the first study to demonstrate the health benefits of abandoning pessimistic opinions.  Over the past 25 years, researchers have shown that pessimists are more likely than others to have poor physical health, depression, impaired immune systems and to seek medical and mental healthcare services.

The research is not yet complete, but Dr Stevens, who conducted the experiments at Edinburgh University's world-renowned parapsychology unit, theorized that they might have found a significant pattern.  He hopes that the experiments will not only demonstrate psychic ability but will show the underlying mechanisms responsible for it.

The study paired people with extremely well developed relationships.  Each pair was split up and designated as a “sender” or “receiver.”  Senders were shown a series of randomly selected video clips and told to “send” the information to the partner who sat in a soundproofed room nearly 100 feet away.  Receivers listened to “white noise” believed to put them into an ultra-receptive state.  They were then asked to say what came into their heads while their body was measured for any changes.

Quoting the author, “Telepathic ability has long been dismissed as superstitious by many traditional academics.  But with the study showing many subjects were able to talk about the information being read by the partner, these preconceptions may be about to change.”

Comment: Experimenters often use radio static, which is a lot like white noise, for Electronic Voice Phenomena.  The entities can apparently more easily change such random sound into voice.  Perhaps the use of white noise in this Psi experiment helps psychic ability in a similar way.
 

Psychic Ability Linked to Sidereal Time.  In the article, An External Influence on Psychic Ability, which is included in this issue of the National Spiritualist Summit, we explain how psychic ability has been shown to be stronger or weaker depending on sidereal or star time.  The study showed that psychic functioning may be as much as four times greater at 13.5 hours Local Sidereal Time (LST).  It is even below expected norms around 19 hours LST.  LST is nearly four minutes earlier each day on your regular of Solar Time clock, and so its peak influence will be at a different time each day.  We must caution you that experiments will need to be conducted to determine if mediumship is similarly affected by the Sidereal Time of day.  We would be interested in hearing from people who keep a record of the relationship between LST and their psychic or mediumship ability.
